The Powershot A430 camera of Canon is a digital camera of 4 megapixels and has a 4 times optical zoom lens. The zoom lens is a bit longer than that of a standard digital camera. It is quite easy to use the Canon Powershot A430. All the key controls are present at the camera's back which includes control dial which will allow the shooting mode to be selected, other controls for flash, zoom, menu access and macro printing. When using the menu system, the settings of control items like ISO and white balance are present in the function menu and items like AF assist zoom lamp and digital zoom control are present in the standard menu.

Two alkaline batteries of AA-type are used by this camera. Rechargeable batteries of 2000 mAh rating can be used and higher the rating of the batteries, the longer time the camera can be used between the charges. A memory card of 16 MB MMC is provided along with the camera. 12 shots can be taken with the camera's default settings before it becomes full. The Canon Powershot A430 has a colour of shiny silver with a slightly darker front section which adds contrast to the camera. With a standard rectangular shape the camera has a total dimension of 10351.840.2mm and has a weight of 160g.
