Canons PowerShot cameras have been impressing consumers for years. The PowerShot A1000IS will be no different. With many of the same features, some new features, a sleek design, and a low sticker price - the A1000IS is possibly the camera purchase of the year. The A1000IS is much smaller than its predecessors, yet offers a zoom lens that has never been offered on a compact point-and-shoot camera. The A1000IS will give consumers vivid pictures for all occasions.

This is a 10-megapixel camera that has a 4x optical zoom lens. Because of the lens, provides focal length of 35-140mm, many would thing that the camera itself would be larger. However, it is not. Canon was able to pull of the compact build with massive lens - and it still has an elegant appearance.

Consumers will enjoy the realistic experience of viewing their images, and videos, on the camera's 2.5-inch LCD screen. Additionally you will find an optical viewfinder, DIGIC III processing engine, multiple shooting modes, and much more. Optical image stabilization has also been added to the A1000IS. This technology removes blurriness from images caused by camera or hand shakiness - creating much crisper imagery.

There are 17 different shooting modes offered on the PowerShot A1000IS. These modes make it easier to capture those spontaneous moments without having to worry about adjusting settings for proper exposure. Easy and auto mode are the best for your every day pictures. ISO 3200 offers amazing setting, and outcomes, for scenes that are not well lit, yet you cannot use a flash.

Focus, exposure, flash, and white balance are all automatically adjusted with use of face detection and integration of the DIGIC III processor. Red eye correction, which also works with face detection, helps to eliminate red eye as the image is captured - hopefully eliminated the need to remove red eye during editing. DIGIC III also offers severe power management for the camera; one of the greatest benefits is a long lasting battery life.

Face detection also offers an added bonus. Consumers can select a particular subject, or face, in a given shot. The camera will automatically focus on that face, even as it moves around in the frame.

Motion detection technology is great for capturing children and animals. This feature detects movement and adjusts settings appropriately to reduce blur. Typically, the ISO settings are adjusted, but this saves you from having to manually change the settings and risk losing the picture.

Upon purchasing a PowerShot A1000IS, you will receive two AA batteries, SD memory card (32MB), wrist strap, USB cable, AV cable, and the necessary software. There is no need to make additional purchases to begin using your new camera. The wrist strap will be needed as there is no longer a rubberized grip on the camera; if you hand gets sweaty it could easily slip away.

With the A1000IS, you will get durability and dependability. You can even choose between four colors, purple, silver, brown, and blue. The A1000IS also has an appealing price tag at $149. If you are looking for a point-and-shoot camera that produces exceptionally crisp images, the Cannon PowerShot A1000IS is worth looking at.

Canon - known for their quality products - has released another amazing camera - the EOS 50D. Like all of their cameras, this model improves upon any of the missing features or flaws in earlier models. If you liked the 40D, you will love the 50D as it is packed with everything a photographer could need.

Like most Canon cameras, the EOS 50D is for higher end photographers, not beginners. The functions and features, on the 50D, would go to waste with the type of photography done by amateurs and beginners. This is not to say they cannot use the camera, it just might be a bit overwhelming and expensive for their needs.

The 15.1-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor improves the resolution and allows for a much wider range in ISO settings. ISO settings, on the 50D, now range from 100 to 3,200. With additional technology and advanced bonus features, ISO settings can actually be expanded to 12,800 (H1: 6,400, H2: 12,800).

Many features have been added to the 50D, which were not included on the predecessor model, the 40D. These features include, but are not limited to vignette correction, Automatic Lighting Optimizer with three levels, adjustable noise reduction, a Creative Auto mode, a lens micro adjustment function, and face detection autofocus in Live View mode. The addition, of these features, provides consumers with a more personable experience every time they take a picture.

The combination of DIGIC 4 processor, 6.3fps continuous shooting, DIGIC 4 processor, and 9-point wide area AF provide consumers with extreme fine details in all of their images. Additionally, overall performance is outstanding on the 50D. Other features include EOS Integrated Cleaning System, HDMI connectivity, and full compatibility with EF, EF-S, and EX-series Speedlites lenses.

There is a 3.0" Clear View VGA LCD display on the EOS 50D. Live View mode and Face Detection Live AF have been tightly integrated, into the display, to make for a more realistic experience. The LCD screen displays images at a 920,000-dot resolution - experience pure vibrancy. The screen is protected, with a protective coating, from fingerprints, dirt, glare, and scratches.

The Canon EOS 50D measures 5.7-inches x 4.2-inches x 2.9-inches and weighs in just less than two pounds. (The weight is with battery and camera only, no lens; weight varies based on the lens that is attached.) The frame, of the 50D, is made from stainless steel making it a very durable product.

The Canon EOS 50D sells for around $1,399 depending what discounts you can find. This price is for the camera and basic accessories only. Kits, or packages, are available, at a higher price, with different lenses as well.

Canons EOS 50D is very similar to the 40D. If you have had any experience with the 40D, handling the 50D will almost feel like the same camera. With the exception of additional features and more advanced technology integration. Otherwise, the overall design, build, and output are of the utmost quality. Photographers alike can capture true-color realistic pictures every time they click the shutter button.
